CNN "declares" Edwards Campaign Dead

Kudos to bushsux on DailyKos

In a poll conducted just one day after the New Hampshire primary, CNN decided that the Edwards campaign (along with Kucinich, Gravel, Richardson, & Thompson) weren't worth asking the American public about. With an unbelievably small number of voters having had a chance to make their voices heard--and with even fewer polled, 443 registered Democrats--CNN is trying their best to bury the Edwards campaign.

After finishing SECOND in Iowa, ahead of Hillary Clinton, Edwards received nearly no coverage as the media focused their attention on their "showdown" candidates. At the same time the media was ignoring the Rasmussen daily polling which was showing Edwards support steadily increasing. Again, the media remained silent. Add to that a strong showing of support in New Hampshire and a third place finish and the media HAS to be ready to show some attention, right? After all, Hillary finished third in Iowa and the media talked about her non-stop.

Again...silence.

Then the launch of this poll, the day AFTER the New Hampshire Primary CNN has decided that John Edwards and several other candidates are NOT EVEN WORTH MENTIONING! How can you say that Edwards isn't polling well, when YOU AREN'T ASKING people about him?

If you say "Suppose the only Democratic candidates were Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Which of those two would you support?" and don't make it clear that "Neither" is an option, obviously you won't get accurate results (even with only 443 participants).

Finish 2nd in a "critical" state like Iowa, the Media doesn't think you're viable.
Finish 3rd as anticipated, but with a slightly larger margin than previous thought.
You're obviously finished.

I think not CNN.

The only thing dead in this race is the interest of the American press corp to do their jobs and REPORT news to the American people. The media would much rather fabricate the election THEY'D like than give voters the tools they need to make an informed decision on which candidate to support.
